HEARTS of SPACE is the original, premier national showcase for ambient, contemplative, and space-creating music. Listeners describe the show as addictive, essential, and ‘sublime’—a consistently high-quality experience with refined, emotionally significant music that goes far beyond simple relaxation.
Our new, completely rewritten 4th generation Hearts of Space mobile app offers iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch users free, anytime access to our new shows up to 4 times each week. Shows change and the free play allotment resets on Fridays around midnight Pacific Time.
New in-app SETTINGS allow you to customize your experience. You can now browse and SEARCH the entire Hearts of Space collection of programs and albums within the app and make and edit personal PLAYLISTS and FAVORITES (now a 3-star rating that also allows you to block any program you don’t want to hear). Apps offer glitchless audio “backgrounding,” Bluetooth and AirPlay support, and up to 256 kBps streaming in the high-quality AAC format.
SUBSCRIBERS gain higher levels of access, choice and interactivity. One subscription works on all your mobile devices and all but prehistoric laptops and desktops. For a seamless musical experience, subscribers can turn voiceovers off, and use interactive stream navigation, a sleep timer, and auto-repeat.

You can SEARCH and enjoy unlimited plays of the entire Hearts of Space universe of music: 1,300+ PROGRAMS, 150+ classic ALBUMS, 11 continuous interactive CHANNELS, THIS WEEK’s show, PLAYLISTS and FAVORITES on the web site and within the app, and our random program select feature SURPRISE ME.
• STANDARD SERVICE—is a budget-conscious choice for continuous background music and direct access to 133 programs, with slightly less interactivity. Includes unlimited play of THIS WEEK’s program and 11 continuous, interactive CHANNELS—9 genre-based, 1 “RECENT” channel featuring the 12 newest programs, and 1 eclectic "ALL ARCHIVE” channel that draws on the entire collection.
• BASIC SERVICE—gives you unlimited play of THIS WEEK’s show during the week it’s featured, and an auto-repeat function, plus the ability to browse and sample everything.
ABOUT HEARTS of SPACE
Beginning as a pioneering late night radio show in the San Francisco Bay area in 1973, the program continues to offer "slow music for fast times." Hearts of Space evolved its own unique format — a calm, space-creating mix of ambient, electronic, world, new age, classical, contemplative, and experimental music from many eras and cultures. The breadth and depth of this musical focus is the secret of our longevity. A weekly one-hour show was nationally syndicated on the NPR network starting in 1983 and has been heard by millions of radio listeners ever since.
In 2001, we were one of the first independent music producers to offer an online streaming service. While we continue to serve our radio network, our main focus today is our web site and mobile apps.

If you love Hearts of Space this app is a must. It would be nice if the subscriptions could be paid for through the users iTunes account.
The app is just as good as their service
Poor functionality for paid app. Bug with launch on iphone 5/6
I installed iOS 10 and now keep getting server not available errors. I have to delete and reinstall app to login. It works for a day then I get errors again and have to repeat process.
Will not run under iOS 10. Stalls at the start screen. Hasnt been updated in years.
